Meet The Team

Adam Hirshberg
Adam Hirshberg is from Sunapee, NH but found his home in Colorado 16 years ago. He joined forces with Russ Gartner in 2014 at Studs Lumber Company. They started in a hayfield in Hesperus with a big dream as their motivation. Now, in 2018, Adam is the General Manager at Studs Lumber, a credible and well-known Durango business, and has also developed a successful shipping container business, Mobile Storage Solutions. He takes great pride in the role he plays in both businesses and thrives on making both as efficient productive as they can be.
Adam is married to his wife, Stephanie, they have two beautiful daughters, Josie and Wren. He is a very devoted family-man and enjoys raising his family in southwest Colorado. Honesty, respect, accountability and communication are values that Adam holds at high standard within himself as well as instilling in his children.
When Adam is not working at the lumber yard, selling shipping containers, or being covered in more glitter than he would like to admit by his daughters, he spends much of his time on skis in the winter and enjoys clocking miles on his motorcycle during the summer months. Adam also enjoys being an involved member of the community, he currently sits on the board of directors and is an active member of the Home Builder’s Association of Southwest Colorado, as well as Build Pagosa and the Pagosa Area Builders Advisory Committee. Being involved in his community is a priority and he enjoys meeting other like-minded individuals.

Matt Territ
My name is Matt Territ. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA where I attended Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania then moved on to Fort Lewis College in Durango, obtaining a GIS degree in 2008.
I have lived in Southwest Colorado for over 12 years and enjoy hunting and fishing in the beautiful San Juan Mountains. I am also an avid rafter and try to get on the water as much as possible, as well as living on a small farm with my wife and 2 boys, Kaden (14) and Lincoln (4). We have chickens, goats, and a small garden, and enjoy producing as much of our own food as we can.
I have been with Studs Lumber for nearly 2 years. I am currently Studs’ CDL driver and can be found driving the boom truck around the area, delivering roofing materials and wood pellets. I look forward to seeing you at your job site.

Teri Smith
Hi there! My name is Teri Smith. I grew up in the Grand Junction area; going to school at Grand Junction High School and Mesa State College (before it was Colorado Mesa University). My favorite past time was riding my appaloosa horse, Poco; and racing my brother when moving the horses. Always trying to out-do the older brothers. I would say that I succeeded on some things but not on others.
I moved to Durango in 1985 to help my sister when her husband passed away. Since then I married Keith and have one son, Cody (my soccer player who is now in the Navy). Proud of both my guys! The early years in Durango, I loved playing softball on a woman’s team or co-ed; sometimes both at the same time, but had to give that up when I injured my leg.
If you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you that I LOVE my Fall colors and will be out on the 4-wheeler taking photos of the colors as much as I can with Keith and extended family. I also tried my hand at making and selling wallets I designed myself. I still make them for myself or for a special occasion. Crafting is a big past time for me anymore.
I started working for Studs Lumber in December 2016 and have enjoyed it immensely since. I am currently getting to update my office to suit me; which is my cup of tea as I also love to ORGANIZE everything. Just ask the guys I work with!
Any time you are in the office, come on back and say HI. BUT, if you are behind on your account; just wait for a call from me! LOL

Dave Nielson
Howdy! My name is Dave Nielson. I grew up in Utah. My early years were spent fishing, hunting and spending time at the family cabin.
I moved to Durango over 25 years ago working in the landscaping, excavation and lumber industries. I came to Studs Lumber Company with my black lab “Duke”. He found me 7 years ago and we have been together since. He likes riding in the lumber truck, playing ball & swimming in the river. We now spend our time prospecting, hunting & camping as much as possible.
You can find us in the yard. Come say “Hi” and you will be greeted by Duke.

Duke
The best dog!

Russ Gartner
Spend a few minutes speaking with Russ Gartner and you will understand immediately that he has a passion for our local forest and trees. Armed with a forestry degree and 20 years of lumber sales experience he opened Studs Lumber Company in 2014 and was excited to find our community was so receptive to supporting local business, regional products, and renewable resources. Studs Lumber Company quickly grew to a multi-million dollar regional spender that provides a consistent connection with customers money and our economy.
Russ found that area builders quickly learned that by purchasing material from Studs Lumber it directly impacts our economy. The mission of Studs Lumber Company is to connect the community with our local economy and this has proven successful through a knowledgeable professional team that has helped hundreds of builders complete their projects with local products delivered at competitive prices. Purchase material from Studs and you are effectively employing an army of local tradesman including the forester, logger, skidder, log truck driver, lumber mill personnel, material drivers, and the employees at Studs.
While Russ endured many challenges the first three years, he feels that working hard and being honest and up front with his customers has gained Studs Lumber Company respect in the community and industry. Russ recently promoted Adam Hirshberg, who has been with Studs since the beginning, to General Manager of Studs in January of 2018.
Studs Lumber Company enjoys working with the professional builders in our area and loves to show them how their framing package impacts the Durango and Colorado economy. Studs continues it’s innovative investments in our community daily and has fully rolled out their new Builder Concierge program which is an interactive scheduling system that helps contractors communicate with subcontractors and fine tune their project budget. Six full-time, long term professionals are available to help with your project. They not only supply roof-top delivery of shingles, but rebar, fasteners, hardware, siding, doors, and of course, lumber.
If you haven’t visited with Russ and his team yet, give them a call at 970-764-7777. They aim to please!

Garan Bojeski
Hi my name is Garan Bojeski, I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and have been living in Durango, CO since 2005. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2009 with a BA in Business Management and had a great 4 years there!
I love playing hockey (it’s my passion in life) and enjoy all the outdoor activities Durango has to offer (camping, snowboarding, rafting, biking, fishing) you name it I’m there!
I have been working here at Studs Lumber as an Outside Sales rep since March of 2017 and couldn’t be happier with my success so far. What I love about working at Studs is helping out the community with their projects all while supporting the local forestry industry by bringing in material from regional suppliers and local mills, and of course getting to work with our amazing team! We have great customers here at Studs who without your support I wouldn’t be where I’m at today, and I’m happy to be a part of this growing local business and industry. Whether you’re new to construction or have been doing it for years I would love to help you with your next project anyway I can. So, come on down to Studs and ask for the Canadian and let me put together a bid for your next project! I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
